Upsurge Very Fine + Older Coins in Change

Recently I started noticing coins turing up in my change that look suprisingly good for there age

1-2 pence pieces being the most common, I got a 1 penny pice, 1971 with pretty much full luster, looked almost brand new.

Also found lustery 10p's and 20p's from the 90's,

Even had a pound coin 1990, again plenty of luster and hardley any sign of wear.

Is it just that im looking and never have before? Even as a kid I was intrested in coins and always checked my change for anything intresting.
(in the UK there is money in curculation from; the channel island, falklands, cyprus and a few other places even swaziland!)

Or are coins that 'lay dormant' making there way back into circulation?

People are checking Sofa seats and raided grand pa's change jars because times are getting that type of hard.

Boy, when I was a LOT younger a quarter would buy 7 large candy bars at Sav-on in the '50 - with change comming back. 3 for a dime back then - no tax. :36_3_13:

Those CUP OF GOLDs were really good; now that I'm a tad older I like the Gold Eagles with $50 foolishly written on them even better than those OLD chocolate round CUP OF GOLDS!

Hear, Hear!

Those were the days my friend. We know what it was like to have pocket change that could sing.

You never forget that sound.

I've taught it to my children and my grand children. My grandkids can spot silver money quite easily.

I remember me and one of my brothers buying a boatload of ABAZZABA'S for about a quarter and then we'd feed them to the neighbors cow! (I'm sure they wondered why the milk tasted like peanut butter).

That's what I was thinking.

Same experience with circulating coinage, here in the States. I came across a roll of pennies with six wheats, when you're usually fortunate to get one. Coin roll sure did look old, one of the coins was from the 20's!

People turn in their change jars for "foldy" money, to make the holidays less threadbare. Sometimes they get ahold of someone's coin collection!

Candy bars are still 3 for a dime - well not a clad dime, but a nice old silver dime, the sort that were used back then. As of this post, coinflation.com puts one silver dime at $1.33; I was just at Walmart where the candy bars were $.45 each. $.45 x 3 = $1.35 - it's uncanny how that works!!! :23_30_104:

And a gallon of gas is less than a quarter, just the way I like it.:36_1_32v:
